"Captain America: Civil War" directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that Red Hulk and Iron Spider almost appeared on the film.

Apparently, they had a deliberation where the two were considered to make an appearance. Unfortunately, Red Hulk and the Iron Spider version of Spider-Man was not able to make the cut.

Red Hulk refers to the irate comic book version of General Thaddeus Ross. Iron Spider on the other hand refers to an armor created by Tony Stark for Spider-Man during the Civil War event in the comics.

For the Iron suit, Jon Watts teased that its capabilities will be shown in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" where Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark will mentor Peter Parker, Screen Rant reported.

As for the Red Hulk, Joe explained in an interview that given the large ensemble, they thought adding an additional powered character would complicate the narrative, Comic Book reported.

"We consider everything, obviously, but with so many characters in that movie as it was to try and entertain adding another character and to get to the Red Hulk, you have to add a back story. You have to substantiate the narrative to get to that. [Thaddeus Ross], on our list of priorities, he was there sort of as the government's agenda and not to add another complicated super powered character to the mix."

Joe adds though, that there is still a possibility that the Red Hulk could make an appearance on future MCU films. Fans are hoping that the character will make an appearance in "Avengers: Infinity War" since Thanos poses a galactic-level threat where an omega-level superhero like the Hulk and the Red Hulk will be useful.
