"Last Man Standing" actress Kaitlyn Dever and "Game of Thrones" star Hannah Murray join the cast of the upcoming Detroit riots drama. Kathryn Bigelow is the director.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 19-year-old Dever and the 27-year-old Murray will play the female lead characters in the untitled Detroit riot drama. They are joining actors Jacob Latimore from "The Maze Runner," Will Poulter from "The Revenant," Jack Reynor from "Glassland," Algee Smith from "Earth to Echo," Ben O'Toole from "The Water Diviner," and John Boyega from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
The production of the untitled Detroit riot drama is currently shooting in the Boston area. The details about it are being kept under wraps. The crime drama revolves around the devastating riots that took place in Detroit over five days in the summer of 1967. It also explores the systemic racism in urban Detroit.
Mark Boal wrote the script of the untitled Detroit riot drama. Bigelow is not only the director but also the producer alongside Boal, Colin Wilson, Megan Ellison and Matthew Budman from Annapurna. Annapurna is the financer.
Dever posted on her Twitter account that she is honored to be a part of the group of people, as Just Jared reported. She said that the story of the 1967 Detriot riot is very important. She added that she is excited and cannot wait to let people see the crime drama.
Dever also made an appearance in movies such as "J. Edgar," "The Spectacular Now," "Short Term 12," and "Men, Women & Children." Dever is repped by UTA and Felker Toczek Suddleson Abramson. Murray recurs the role as Gilly on the popular "Game of Thrones." She appeared in the UK series "Skins,' "Chatroom," "The Chosen," and "Dark Shadows."
