"Stranger Things" producer Shawn Levy will be casting some famous people for the next season. "Stranger Things" Season 2 is renewed by Netflix and set to debut in 2017. Alongside Levy, Dan Cohen is the executive producer of the TV series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levy said that certain rumored famous actors have raised their hand with real interest to join "Stranger Things" Season 2. He hinted that the upcoming season will have some new characters entering the adventure. Some of whom are familiar names, and many of whom are unfamiliar names. He added that the production is looking for a range of generations to create a rare show that has the multigenerational viewing.
Levy tipped that the focus will be on expanding the world created in season one while staying true to the characters viewers grew to know and love. He also said that the multigenerational new characters will have really, really intriguing roles.
Cohen said that the creators Matt and Ross Duffer brothers are already planning for the next installment of the drama. He added that the writers have a broad understanding of what the upcoming next season will look like. All of the episode titles were already unveiled in the renewal announcement on August 31. The fans' strong reaction to certain characters will be expected in the next year.
The Duffers recently hinted that "Stranger Things" Season 2 would venture outside of Hawkins, Entertainment Weekly reported. The opening scene would not be in the small town. It could be like the Skynet from the "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" movie. The cue action sequence will be Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) kicking enemies.
There is still no announcement on the specific month or date the "Stranger Things" Season 2 will premiere. Levy admitted that he has a very good idea but is not allowed to tell the information because they love the fans.
