Josh Hartnett is in advanced negotiations to re-team with the "Bunraku" writer-director Guy Moshe for a neo-noir espionage thriller "The Last Draw of Jack of Hearts." He would start filming on the pic in Naples, Italy, in March if the deal is sorted.
Hartnett would play the role of Jack, Deadline reported. His character is the former top dog of an elite mercenary outfit. He is shot in the back and left for dead during a covert operation in Africa. He returns to his old base in Naples to correct past wrongs and reunite with the woman he loves. However, events soon take a violent turn in the middle of a tale of love, loyalty, and betrayal.
Disrupting Influence's Glenn Kendrick Ackermann and Jason Piette have acquired worldwide sales rights to "The Last Draw of Jack of Hearts." They will introduce it to buyers at the 41st annual Toronto International Film Festival held from Sept. 8-18 in Toronto, Canada.
According to Variety, producer Mark Holdom announced Friday that "The Last Draw of Jack of Hearts" will initiate principal photography in March in Naples and Lithuania. He said at the Venice Festival that he wants to film another movie in Italy. He added that the script for the upcoming thriller is the perfect creative opportunity. He also said that the production is excited to work with Hartnett, who was always Moshe's first choice when it comes to the lead role.
Alongside Holdom, the producers of "The Last Draw of Jack of Hearts" are Moshe, Mathew G. Zamias, Karolis Malinauskas, Lorenzo von Lorch, Leonardo Araneo, Pedro Tarantino Pimentel, Ackermann, and Jason Piette. The executive producers include Nigel Smart and Harris Tulchin.
Hartnett and Moshe first teamed up in a revenge-themed movie "Bunraku" in 2010, starring Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson. Hartnett made an appearance in three seasons on Showtime's "Penny Dreadful." He will next play the role of an Olympic hockey player in "6 Below." He is also starring in Lech Majewski's fantasy drama "Valley of the Gods." He is set to do a leading role in a police thriller "Gut Instinct" directed by writer-director Daniel Roby. He is repped by UTA, Management 360, and Sloan, Offer, Weber & Dern. Moshe is repped by CAA and Echo Lake Management.
