This year is good for Pokemon fans, with the hit augmented reality app "Pokemon Go" setting the craze for mobile users, and with the upcoming "Pokemon Sun and Moon" coming out on Nintendo 3DS. Now, fans are hearing news of another anime series adaption of one of Nintendo's successful franchises coming out later this year called "Pokemon Generations."
The series will contain animated shorts that span throughout the different generations of "Pokemon," the series' title. According to VG 24/7, each episode will highlight the different huge moments from the handheld games, from the originals ("Pokemon Red" and "Blue") to "Yellow" to "Pokemon X" and "Y."
Despite only running 3 to 5 minutes each, the episodes are sure to bring fun and nostalgia to those who played throughout the entire series back then. The series will have 18 episodes that will take viewers to each region from the games, from Kanto to Kalos.
The premiere trailer already showcased some memorable moments that fans would recognized, from the battle of the Red Gyarados from "Pokemon Gold" and "Silver" and the confrontation of the legendary Pokemon titan Regigigas from "Pokemon Diamond" and "Pearl." Polygon also reported that the Pokemon trainer shown (probably the protagonist), although face obscured, is possibly the player character Red.
The series is reminiscent of another similar series based on the franchise called "Pokemon Origin," which focuses on the "Pokemon Red" and "Blue" series.
"Pokemon Generations" will begin airing on Sept. 16, at 9 AM PT or 12 PM ET, with the first two episodes premiering that day. Viewers can watch them on the official "Pokemon" channel in YouTube.
