Executive Producer Craig Sweeny has finally put an end to the obscure fate of "Limitless" drama on Saturday. Through his Twitter account, the showrunner confirmed the CBS series is "100% gone" and will not be renewed for a Season 2.
Previously, Sweeny also took to his Twitter account the announcement that "Limitless" has been cancelled on any platform. The statement was made after CBS President Glenn Geller said they are in talks with potential buyers of the CBS drama, Variety reported.
Reports suggest the American drama series was cancelled due to poor ratings; however, many of its fans are still keeping their hopes up for the possibility of "Limitless" Season 2. As a result, fans created an online petition to call out for the renewal of the show.
As of date of writing, more than 25,800 have petitioned for "Limitless" Season 2, while some followers said the show deserves to be renewed for a new installment because of its amazing story.
"If they are worried about the show not having a large audience I'm sure it only happened to CBS due to lack of promotion, but if Netflix picked it up they already have a large fan base which will only continue to grow once/if season 2 is picked up," a fan wrote.
"Limitless" stars Jake McDorman who takes the role of Brian Finch, who discovered a nootropic drug called "NZT-48." Joining McDorman for the drama were Jennifer Carpenter, Hill Harper and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio who played as FBI special agents.
The CBS series is a TV adaptation of a 2011 film of the same name starring Bradley Cooper, who is also a co-producer of the American TV series. Forbes described the pilot episode "Limitless" Season 1 as "a perfect example of how to do one right."
But despite receiving good reviews from the viewers, it seems like we won't be seeing how things will turn for Finch as Netflix reportedly showed no interest in picking up "Limitless" Season 2 as per Sweeny.
