Sung Kang, 43, lent his voice to a soap opera actor in "Family Guy" Season 15 episode 10 titled "Candy, Quahog Marshmallow," which aired on Jan. 3. The South Korean-American actor is known for playing Han in "Fast & Furious" films with the late Paul Walker.
In "Family Guy" Season 15 episode 10, the guys travelled to South Korea to retrieve the final episode of an Asian soap that Glenn Quagmire (Seth MacFarlane) starred in. In South Korea, he was reunited with a former lover.
"Family Guy" Season 15 episode 10 featured characters voiced by Carrie Fisher, Ashton Kutcher, Rachael MacFarlane, Kat Purgal, Josh Robert Thompson, Patrick Warburton, Adam West and Mae Whitman. Kang's fellow South Koreans who were also featured as voice actors in the episode are Robert Wu, C.S. Lee and Margaret Cho.
This is not the first time Kang lent his voice to an animated TV series character. In 2014, he lent his voice to a character in "Robot Chicken" Season 7 episode 2 titled "Link's Sausages," which was directed by Zeb Wells.
Also in 2014, Kang played Tae Kim in "Gang Related" Season 1. Before "Furious 7," he played a South Korean soap opera actor in the romantic comedy film "Ana Maria in Novela Land," which starred Edy Ganem, Michael Steger, Juan Pablo Gamboa, Sosie Bacon, Peter Mendoza and Kit Williamson, among others.
After "Furious 7," Kang starred in international films "Hollywood Adventures" and "Pali Road." "Hollywood Adventures" is a Chinese-American-Hong Kong action comedy movie largely filmed in Los Angeles while "Pali Road" was filmed in Hawaii and it starred Taiwanese singer-actress Michelle Chen, British actor Henry Ian Cusick and American actor Jackson Rathbone.
Kang is set to star in the upcoming drama film "The Free World." Set to hit theaters on Jan. 26, the film was written and directed by Jason Lew.
In "The Free World," Kang plays a detective. His co-stars are Boyd Holbrook, Elisabeth Moss, Sue-Lynn Ansari, Waleed Zuaiter, James Moses Black, Vivian Fleming-Alvarez, Jean Claude Leuyer, Jon Arthur, Nazeema Bartek, Tony Beard, Kirk Robertson and Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer, among others.
