"The Last Ship" Season 4 will feature a time jump following the shocking events that unfolded in the previous installment. Series star Eric Dane, meanwhile, has teased that the new bunch of episodes are going to deliver another round of intense storytelling.
When "The Last Ship" returns next year, viewers will find Chandler on a recovering stage after facing multiple ordeals in Season 3. Executive producer Steven Kane recently revealed to TV Line that they plan to pickup a year later in Season 4. However, the showrunner stayed mum on how Chandler's decision will impact the new episodes.
"We gave a lot of closure in the season, a lot of things are wrapped up and there's basically a happy ending," Kane told the publication.
"We thought it'd be great to sort of leave Chandler in a place where you wonder, "Where's he going to be next time you see him, when we come back for Season 4? And can he ever get back that feeling he had that allowed him to stay this rock for everybody for three seasons?"
Lead star Eric Dane, for his part, offered a bit of intel on what to expect on The Last Ship Season 4. In a recent interview with Three If By Space, the former "Grey's Anatomy" star allowed that the new installment is going to be "intense."
"Tom has been on three very different, personal journeys between season one and three," Dane said.
"Season four will probably be about Chandler's journey back to consciousness. It's going to be like an epic, mythical-type odyssey. You're going to dig it."
"The Last Ship" Season 4 is slated to premiere sometime in 2017.
