Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone might be seen playing female lead in Tamil historical drama "Sanghamitra," which is touted as India's most expensive movie ever.
According to recent media reports, Padukone has been approached to play the female lead in the Sundar C's next directorial multi-lingual project. She will essay the role of emparor Ashoka's daughter Sanghamitra, who along with her brother Mahendra went to Sri Lanka to spread the Budhism religion, Bollywood Life entertainment news portal reported.
"Sanghamitra" will be produced by Sri Thenandal Films. Oscar winning music composer AR Rehman, Baahubali fame VFX Supervisor Kamalakannan and art director Sabu Cyril will be the part of the movie, which is touted as India's most expensive film ever made,Indian Express reported. It is likely to surpass the budget of "Baahubali" and Rajinikanth's upcoming action flick "Enthiran 2.0."
Padukone, who is being followed by 16 million fans on Twitter, is most popular Indian actress on social media. She is also among the top 10 highest paid actresses in the world according to the Forbes magazine. Padukone is currently busy shooting for her Hollywood debut "XxX: Return of Xander Cage" opposite Vin Diesel.
The 29-year-old "Chennai Express" actress is riding high afrer the success of her two last movies "Piku" and "Bajirao Mastani." She will next seen in Sajay Leela Bhansali's historical romance drama "Padmavati" opposite her boyfriend Ranveer Singh. As per latest media reports, the "Piku" actress is also in talks with director Sriram Raghavan, known for thriller "Badlapur," to work in his next project opposite "Mirza" actor Harshavardhan Kapoor.
