Pebble 2 is the latest smartwatch from the Pebble Technology, which designed to be a reliable health and fitness tracker. Find out the latest feature and specification of this low-key smartwatch.
Pebble 2 is designed to be health and fitness tracking device. But according to CNET, Pebble 2 falls short in that area.
Following Apple Watch 2 that jump into the fitness tracking device bandwagon, Pebble 2 is also going to the same direction. Nevertheless, the latest watch from Pebble is far from being the great fitness tracker, albeit the company works hard to make it. Lack of third party application makes the heart rate function in Pebble 2 is not optimal to be a goood fitness tracker.
Moreover, the heart rate data collected is not synchronized with any fitness application available. Therefore, Pebble 2 is not able to keep track of the workout. As a result, when user installs Pebble app in another phone, the previous data is lost.
Despite its lack in fitness tracking ability, Pebble 2 is equipped with a very good battery-life. Its battery can live for five days and its new software provide a better notifications. The watch also has a water proof design.
Compared to its bulky Classic, Pebble 2 has a more slender design with a 39.5 x 30.2mm dimension, It is also available in five different colors - Black, White, Aqua, Flame and Lime. Made of polycarbonate materials, the watch is lightweight with only 31.7 gram.
The company, Pebble Technology Corporation launched Pebble 2 on Kickstarter since May 24, 2016 with a price at $99. Pebble also introduced Pebble Core, its new wearable device powered by Android 5.0 with a 3G modem, GPS, Spotify application and integration with Amazon's Alexa Voice Service.
However, the integration with the Alexa is still not complete as Pebble reported. The developers in Pebble is still woring on to fully integrate Alexa Voice Service with Pebble Core which is scheduled to ship in early 2017. While Pebble 2 is sold at retail price of $129.
