"Hacksaw Ridge" director Mel Gibson is in talks to star in his next spy action-adventure movie "Every Other Weekend." He might be going undercover.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gibson will be joining French filmmaker Benjamin Rocher in an action-adventure project "Every Other Weekend." He will play the grandfather, who actually is a spy.
"Every Other Weekend" tracks a father-son duo on a trip to Paris, Entertainment Weekly reported. The two encounter trouble and secrets. Secrets are spilled when they find themselves on a life-threatening adventure.
In the plot of "Every Other Weekend," the son believes that his father is a spy. However, in actuality, his father works in the Central Intelligence Agency's IT department.
The script of "Every Other Weekend" is a multigenerational family storyline. Brandon and Curtis Birtell wrote the original script with the most recent drafts being by Davis Moreau and Tad Safran.
Clement Miserez and Jean-Charles Levy are producing "Every Other Weekend" along with Peter Safran. SND is producing and fully financing it.
Gibson is represented by Shanahan Management and RPMedia. He is currently filming the drama movie "The Professor and the Madman" with Sean Penn. His directorial debut was "Apocalypto" in 2006.
Gibson is enjoying strong buzz with his newest comeback directorial film "Hacksaw Ridge." The World War II biopic starring "Spider-Man" star Andrew Garfield debuted at the 2016 Venice Film Festival and has won over the early wave of critics. It is due to be released by Lionsgate on Nov. 4.
Rocher directed a pair of action-horror movies with "The Horde" in 2009 and "Goal of the Dead" in 2014, as well as a police action project "The Sweeney: Paris" in 2015.
"Every Other Weekend" is being eyed a late-year start in France.
