Simon Cowell has some strong words to say about Niall Horan's decision to choose Capitol Records over Syco label in the release of his solo single "This Town."
On Sept. 29, the One Direction member dropped his first single as a solo artist through Kiss FM. Simultaneously, Horan released an official statement saying that he has signed a deal with Capitol Records for his solo debut, EW reported.
The One Direction member said he has always been passionate about writing songs, hence, Horan revealed he personally wrote "This Town" for his fans. "Been working in the studio, wanted to share this song I just wrote with u guys. Thank you for always being there," he said.
Horan's "This Town" landed on the ninth spot in several music charts, however, Cowell is not satisfied about this. "He probably would have had a number one single if he'd stayed with me," Cowell said as per Daily Mail.
The "X Factor" creator went on, "But you know who does have number one this week? James Arthur. Very pleased he's back with us with a fantastic record." Cowell even added, "Hashtag loyalty."
Arthur recently released his comeback single "Say You Won't Let Go," which has gone straight to number one on the iTunes chart. The British singer-songwriter was the winner of "X Factor" 2012. Previously, Arthur signed with Columbia Records for the release of his second, however, the "X Factor" winner re-signed with Syco in the same year.
Syco Entertainment or Syco is a British entertainment company owned by Cowell, who formed One Direction after the band fell short in "X Factor" 2010. The English-Irish pop boy band previously announced they were going into a hiatus to allow each member to pursue solo careers.
