Fans are still crossing their fingers on the next "Elder Scrolls" game Bethesda still has to offer. The next chapter in the series could include, whether a new leveling system, setting up guilds, and even a new location. Whether these might be a possibility in the series, we are also reminded that these are just speculations.
Despite the four-year gap between "Oblivion" and "Skyrim," Bethesda isn't planning on making another "Elder Scrolls" game anytime soon. As much as they would love to get in on creating the next epic chapter in the fantasy setting of Tamriel, both Bethesda's Todd Howard and Pete Hines are currently working on other projects at the moment, according to Digital Spy.
Pete Hines mentioned that "Elder Scrolls 6" will always be in their list, but he wouldn't want the fans to "be misled," as stated in the official Twitter page. Even earlier this year, Todd Howard mentioned that the game's development is a "long way off" when he was asked about it.
"I think it's good in these moments to tell our fans, 'Yes, of course we are. It's something we love,'" said Howard. "But it is - you know, I have to be careful what I say - it's a very long way off."
He also mentioned that the studio is also working on two major projects that will be "bigger than anything [they've] done." He even continued that, "People will probably hear about those probably even before Elder Scrolls 6. And that'll make sense many years from now."
Both Hines and Howard also mentioned that the "Elder Scrolls" studio really chooses to think "very long-term." Hines even mentioned that the studio is not a "two-button vending machine," where they can just simply decide on whether to release "Fallout" or "Elder Scrolls" consecutively. He added that they ones working their best in Bethesda also "have a right to stretch their legs and try something else or do something different."
But, rest assured, Hines and Howard did mention that these new projects are going to be very exciting for gamers once they're released soon.
In other news, a report from YIBADA did mention that the speculations on the content of "Elder Scrolls 6" might include the potential addition of guilds and integration of virtual reality. The possible guild system might encourage co-op and team play (probably through online means), while the VR feature might have to depend if the technology will still be a trend when the game will actually come out.
Additionally, the leveling system might be based on elements of "Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim", where it combines different sets of skills allowing players to progress in their levels depending on how often they use that certain craft.
Meanwhile, the game's setting would, of course, be in different parts of Tamriel. The first of the series "Arena" back in 1994 had a general idea of the world. The sequel released in 1996 called "Daggerfall" was set in in High Rock and the Hammerfell provinces. In 2002, the island of Vvardenfell was the setting for the third game "Morrowind." 2006's "Oblivion" had Cyrodiil, while the latest game had the titular Skyrim.
Fans have given different candidates for the next setting of the game, whether it would be the bestial empire of Redwood, swampy marshes of Argonia, or Valenwood, the home of the Wood Elves.
News on "Elder Scrolls 6" may not have that much detail but it is speculated to be released sometime on 2019.
