The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly finalizing a deal that would send starting point guard Michael Carter-Williams to the Chicago Bulls for shooting guard Tony Snell.
Williams, the 11th overall pick of the 2013 draft, has recently been mentioned in a lot of trade rumors as the Bucks are said to be keen on moving on from the former Syracuse standout after acquiring Matthew Dellavedova via a sign-and-trade deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer.
Bucks head coach Jason Kidd had earlier confirmed that Carter-Williams had lost his starting spot to Dellavedova as he will come off the bench together with former starting center Greg Monroe in the upcoming season.
Carter-Williams was acquired by Milwaukee from a three-team trade with the Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns in February 2015 and has since been sharing starting point guard duties with Jerryd Bayless, who is now with the Sixers.
CBS Sports reported that the Carter-Williams for Snell swap "will likely be finalized Monday" as the Bucks and Bulls are currently in "deep talks" with one another.
The deal reportedly "makes a ton of sense" for the Bucks not only because the team already has Dellavedova, but they are also set to miss the services of shooting guard Khris Middleton, who hurt his hamstring during the recent training camp and will be out for at least six months.
Snell, who is entering his fourth year in the league after being drafted 20th overall also in 2013, is said to be a "decent defender" who is also a fairly reliable three-point shooter.
In the case of the Bulls, many analysts believe that Carter-Williams' signing will look great in the defensive end but can be terrible in offense as Chicago's starting point guard Rajon Rondo is also a known low percentage shooter.
It remains to be seen whether Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler can compensate for the two floor generals' lack of outside touch, although the two wingmen are also sub-par three-point shooters as both shot below 32 percent from downtown last season.
However, Fansided indicated that Carter-Williams will allow the Bulls to form a strong perimeter defense with Butler once the deal is done.
Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg may even choose to start him with Rondo, Wade, and Butler if he decides to go with a small-ball lineup. However, some thought that such lineup is too small and lacked outside shooting as well.
