Song Joong Ki is one of South Korea's most popular actors in recent times. He consistently receives praise from colleagues and fans for his stellar acting chops and kind-hearted nature. Appearing in a recent broadcast of tvN's "Problematic Men," SHINee's Minho spoke fondly about his friend, saying he's the smartest person he knows.
Minho revealed that he became friends with the Descendants of the Sun star when they were regular cast members on the reality show "Let's Go Dream Team 2." When asked which is the smartest among his friends, Minho answers Song Joong Ki.
"He really is intelligent. When we talk, he's very logical...even if we say the same things, he has this way of explaining his exact reasoning when he speaks," Minho said, as quoted by Soompi. "He not only sounds clever but he actually is smart in real life. He's also really gentle."
Song Joong Ki's scholastic achievements are widely known among his peers and fans. According to Drama Fever, the actor scored 900 points on his TOEIC. He is listed as one of the smartest South Korean celebrities, having consistently earned A's in school.
"He was a superb student whose grades ranked in the top 10 of the entire school. If he wanted to, he could've easily gone to the best university in Korea," Song's high school homeroom teacher said.
Aside from succeeding academically, Song Joong Ki was also a school athlete. He was a representative for his district in Daejeon, but had to give up athletics after suffering an ankle injury in middle school.
He went on to attend Sungkyunkwan University, one of the most prestigious schools in South Korea, where he studied as a business administration major.
At the university, he is popular known as an "ulzzang" or extremely good-looking fellow. He was also the model for the university magazine and at one point served as the school's broadcasting announcer.
