There haven't been any other official announcements on the potential "Half-Life 3" game, but there have been reports of possible game code leaks that may give fans some hope on the long-awaited sequel.
Earlier this year, a previous report mentioned Valve would be having the possibility of integrating virtual reality (VR) support for the third game in the series. This was also backed with the fact that "Half-Life 3" might be released on its 20th anniversary or even next year.
There were also reports from the Valve News Network that the company has trimmed down their workforce, with a third of them rumored to work on the third sequel. It was actually the latest game codes for the upcoming potential "Half-Life" game that seem to originate from an updated file for "DOTA 2."
IGN was able to report on this, which actually revealed that the "DOTA 2" update contained the code of "a procedurally shattering glass panel," and a line with a statement that said that it will be "used to force the HLVR player to speak."
While this may be updated news for "Half-Life 3" more than anything else, we have to remember that these are just merely speculations for the time being. The leaked codes could mean anything and it doesn't have to pertain to third installment in the "Half-life" series.
As for the fans, they look to Valve for a glimmer of hope that they can get to control the silent protagonist badass that is Gordon Freeman, waving around his crowbar and lifting and throwing things with his trusty Gravity Gun. Additionally, there still has yet to be some closure for the way the last game ended.
