"The Mindy Project" will introduce one of Mindy's best friends in an upcoming episode of Season 5. "Happy Endings" star Casey Wilson has been tapped to play the role.

Ike Barinholtz, who plays Morgan on the Hulu comedy, has announced Wilson's casting on Entertainment Weekly's What to Watch podcast. According to Barinholtz, Wilson's episode will air sometime in November where she will be introduced as one of Dr. L's BFF who resurfaces from the past. No word yet if Wilson will be appearing in multi-episodes.

"We just shot an episode last week that will air in a month or so where one of Mindy's old friends from her past comes back," the actor shared.

"And, kind of, right after we read the table read, Mindy and I were talking and we were like, 'What about Casey Wilson?'"

This is not the first time "The Mindy Project" has hired actors from "Happy Endings" after it got cancelled. In the past years, the show has cast Adam Pally as Peter Prentice for two seasons. He was later joined by Eliza Coupe, who guest starred in four episodes in Season 4.

Now streaming on Hulu, "The Mindy Project" star and creator Mindy Kaling recently addressed the show's move from FOX to the digital platform at the recent Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour. As it turns out, Kaling and co-executive producer Matt Warburton are more than happy that the former FOX comedy got a new home in Hulu, saying that it gave them "greater creative freedom" along with "significantly reduced stress."

"The single best improvement in my life is working for people who are not having the forefront of our concern be the number of people who are watching," Kaling told the panel.

Added Warburton: "It's so short-sighted to look at week to week ratings... it's a relief to not be confronted with it all the time."

"The Mindy Project" Season 5 streams weekly on Hulu, with new episodes debuting on Tuesdays.
