Leessang's Gary is confirmed to leave popular variety show "Running Man" to pursue another dream.
According to Allkpop, producers of the SBS show laid down the reason behind Gary's decision to depart from "Running Man" after six years. "Gary expressed his desire to focus on his music studies and revealed that he wants to invest more time in music," the producers revealed.
"The "Running Man" producers decided to respect Gary's decision to pursue his main field as a musician. We sincerely appreciate Gary who has given great effort for "Running Man" as the original member for the past [6] years," they added.
In 2010, Gary joined "Running Man" as the co-host of the popular variety show, Soompi reported. He was among the seven original cast members of the SBS show, alongside Yoo Jae Suk, Haha, Kim Jong Kook, Ji Suk Jin, Song Hi Jyo and Lee Kwang Soo.
But before he started his journey with "Running Man," Gary is a member of a hip-hop duo called Leessang. The duo has released a total of eight albums since Leessang was formed in 2002.
Aside from that, Gary also debuted as a solo artist with the release of "Mr. Gae" in 2014. However, the debut album was banned by major stations due to its content. Despite that, Gary's "Mr. Gae" still managed to top several music charts.
Following his decision to leave "Running Man," Gary will have his last filming with the SBS variety show on Oct. 31. Reports suggested the popular show will continue in November without the Leessang member.
