"Zoolander 2" actor Billy Zane and "Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie" Sadie Frost join the cast of the romantic drama "Lucid." "The Window" up-and-coming filmmaker and producer Adam Morse is set to helm.
Zane will play the mysterious neighbor Elliot in "Lucid," Variety reported. Frost will play the role of Georgina. "The Quiet Ones" actor Laurie Calvert will play the titular character Zel.
"Lucid" tells the story of lonely young introvert Zel. Zel is given an unexpected chance to overcome his anxieties and reinvent himself. Elliot takes him under his wing and teaches him the little-known art of lucid dreaming.
"Lucid" is described as an inventive romantic drama split between the opposing worlds of a young man's dreams and reality. It is the feature film debut of Morse, directing from his own script. It will be co-produced by Morse and "The Bounty Hunter" actor Adam Rose.
"Lucid" is the first feature to benefit from the newly launched DDA1st initiative. The PR company consists of film marketing and communications experts DDA. It seeks to nurture the next generation of talents and offer an invaluable head-start for all those seeking to fulfill their rich potential.
The cast of "Lucid" also includes up-and-coming talents such as "Philomena" actress Sophie Kennedy Clark (Kat) and "Nymphomaniac: Vol. 1" actress Felicity Gilbert (Jasmine). "Rush" actor Cristian Solimeno has also joined as Theo.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zane co-starred on Amanda Knox-themed drama "Guilt" and played Stan Gutterie. The drama was launched in June to an underwhelming 490,000 total viewers before wrapping its 10-episode run in August with 400,000.
Zane has worked on indie sci-fi Blue World Order and comedy White Island. Frost last appeared in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie. Calvert has appeared in TV comedy "Episodes."
"Lucid" has already started a three-week shoot in London.
