"Persona 5" is nearing its eventual release and we've been getting tidbits of its gameplay, story and characters. Now, we're getting a trailer about one of its new main characters, the lovely Ann Takamaki. The video showcases Ann's character model, backstory and samples of her English Dialogues. Another video also shows an interview with Erika Harlacher, the English voice actress behind the character.
According Atlus' official press release¸ the character was described as the game's "Rose with Thorns." As a student also, Ann has been "the center of school gossip" who is "plagued by unjust rumors from her peers on a daily basis." This may mean she was put in a bad spot because a gym teacher has an "excessively friendly" attraction towards her. Once her powers were awakened, she, along with the Protagonist, had founded the Phantom Thieves with the purpose of correcting immoral actions of the teacher and extinguishing any gossip on her, and to also be free from their suppressive worlds.
With the trailer also comes the in-game model for Ann Takamaki during the animated scenes and the actual gameplay. During her moments with the Phantom Thieves, her outfit changes to a red suit similar to a devil. Her Persona is from the lover's arcana and is named Carmen.
Ann Takamaki's voice actress Erika Harlacher expresses how much of a blast she had in playing the character. Harlacher mentioned the character's morale and her role in the Phantom Thieves since being a member indicates being "not one of the most upstanding citizens of the world." The voice actress replied that "[Ann] is a really good person, deep down, if you actually get to know her."
While the American version of "Persona 5" has been given a rating already, it is still under development. The English version will be set for release on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 North America and Europe in Feb. 14, 2017.
