Twitter recently announced that it will be closing its micro-video service Vine. But the announcement of the service's closure is not new to its stars as plans to save the online service were recently revealed.
The social media industry was recently shocked by the recent announcement of Twitter that it will be closing down its popular micro-video service Vine after three years of offering extremely short, but often funny videos for everyone. Although it was a shock for everyone in the tech industry, the stars of Vine recently revealed of a plan of saving the website from permanently shutting down.
Mic reported of a meeting last fall between the bigwigs of the site and some of the top content creators of Vine. During that time, the creators already noticed a severe drop of viewers and users of the site and their meeting with the creative director of Vine came with several proposals on saving the website.
Several of the proposals came to light: a financial compensation of $1.2 million each for the top stars who will focus their efforts in uploading three Vines a week or 12 Vines a month. They also proposed transparency and a concrete action from the site against harassment. Unfortunately, the deal did not go through and the stars of the site knew that Vine is in big trouble.
But even though Vine is shutting down, the names and stars associated with the site is still going strong in other social media platforms. According to CNN, many stars on Vine have already moved on to other platforms long before the announcement. Some of the stars have not posted on Vine for months but they are currently active in other platforms such as YouTube, Snapchat and Instagram.
Fans of the micro-video site and those who just want to relive the popular looped videos can still check out the app or site for videos. Twitter clarified that it will not delete or remove the videos from Vine for everyone to check-out again and again. As of now, users can no longer upload videos online and Twitter will make further announcements in the future if any changes is made on the online service.
