The "Skylanders Academy" show on Netflix has been going on for quite some time and it already has been featuring some characters from the PS1 era games. Now, it looks like another PS1 classic character shows himself up in the series and it's none other than Crash Bandicoot himself - and he speaks!
YouTube user "pix pinguino" was able to upload a video clip of the show showing Crash. While the video game series shows the bandicoot protagonist silent, this time "Skylanders Academy" features him speaking - in an Australian accent! Well, since he's based off of an animal from the Land Down-Under, it makes sense.
Gamespot was able to cover the episode synopsis, being the 11th episode entitled "Crash Landing." The official episode description reads, "After Crash Bandicoot is somehow transported into their world, the Skylanders have to help him get home by finding a dark relic."
"Skylanders Academy" has been labeled as the first ever production from Activision Blizzard Studios. Rumors have it that they're actually planning to do more projects like a "Call of Duty" film. "Skylanders Academy" is also considered the first Netflix show based on a videogame, with showrunner Eric Rogers, who's also the writer for the "Futurama" series.
The Netflix show was based on the "Skylander" video game series by Activision, which stars Futurama writer characters Spyro, Eruptor, Stealth Elf, Jet-Vac, and Pop Fizz as they embark on adventures and stop the bad guys from winning. For the voice cast, Justin Long ("Dodgeball") voices Spyro; Jonathan Banks ("Breaking Bad") plays Eruptor; comedian Norm McDonald ("Saturday Night Live") portrays Glumshanks; and ("Ashley Tisdale High School Musical") voices Stealth Elf. Susan Sarandon and Metallica's James Hetfield are said to have roles in the film. It's still unclear on who the voice actor is for Crash Bandicoot and whether or not he'll be voicing in the future.
In other news, "Skylanders Academy" will be debuting its second season on Netflix in late 2017.
