Dwyane Wade must pay $25,000 fine for his throat slashing gesture in the game against Celtics. He made the hideous gesture after scoring a three point shot near the end of the fourth quarter on Oct. 27 at the United Center, Chicago.
Wade who had 22 points, 5 assists and 6 rebounds that night reacted with the grotesque gesture after he scored a three point with 26.3 seconds left in the fourth quarter to secure the Bulls 105-99 win against Boston Celtics. After scoring his three pointer from the right corner, he put his right hand to his neck and made a throat slashing expression.
The 34-year-old star realized his mistake. After the game, he took to Twitter to express his regret as reported by Washington Post. He apologized to his young fans for his inappropriate behavior.
“I wanna apologize to my young fans on my gesture at the end of last nights game. I was caught up in the emotions of my first game at home,” read his tweet posted on Oct. 28, Friday afternoon.
For his action which was captured by camera, NBA fined him $25,000 and calling his gesture “inappropriate” as reported by SLAM Online.
Wade has been longing to come back to Chicago, his hometown to play for the Bulls. He was born in the Chicago’s South Side. His parents were separated when he was four months old and he lived with his mother, JoLinda who was a drug user and drug dealer at that time.
After his mother was arrerested for drug abuse when he was 6 years old, his father took him to live with his stepmother Bessie McDaniels in Robbins, Cook County, IL. Wade lived there with his three stepbrothers Demetris, Darnell and Kodhmus McDaniel.
His mother, JoLinda is now a pastor “Temple of Praise,” a church which Wade built for her. Wade has so many memories in Chicago, therefore playing in for the Bulls is an emotional journey for him.
