After a long time of speculating, sources confirm that Millie Bobbie Brown will return as Eleven in the highly-awaited "Stranger Things" Season 2. Following her fate in the first season, Brown's involvement in the follow-up has been up in the air until recently.
Sources tell TVLine that the show's 12-year-old breakout star, Brown, is reprising her role as the telekinetic Eleven in "Stranger Things" Season 2. In the finale episode of the first season, Eleven sacrificed herself in order to defeat the Demogorgon and save Will (Noah Schnapp), who was trapped in the Upside Down. When Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour) left food in the woods Eleven (wherever she may have been), viewers took this as a hint that the young character is still alive and will return in future seasons.
A different theory, however, came up after Netflix released the titles for the "Stranger Things" Season 2 episodes. The premiere episode was titled "Max," which is inspired by a new character who is described as a "tough and confident" young girl. Rumors about Eleven being replaced by Max began to circulate, especially since neither of the cast members seemed to confirm Brown's return.
It's not clear how many episodes Brown's Eleven will be in in the sophomore season. In the first season, Eleven played a critical role in solving many of the show's mysteries and in connecting Will to his friends.
"Stranger Things" Season 2 will run with nine episodes, Mirror reports. It will premiere in 2017, and the story will pick up one year after the events in the first season. As for "Stranger Things" Season 2 spoilers, creator Matt Duffer revealed that they will explore a "bigger mythology" and delve deeper into Will's disappearance and the effects of the Upside Down. Schnapp has been elevated to a series regular status together with Joe Keery, who played the handsome Steve Harrington.
