Anthony Davis is reportedly getting frustrated about the current New Orleans Pelicans' campaign and trade rumors abound that he could join the San Antonio Spurs soon if the team will not improve this season.
The Pelicans currently have a 0-4 slate after their 117-113 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks at their home court of Smoothie King Center on Tuesday night despite Davis having another monster output of 35 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocks.
Davis is averaging 37 points, 13.3 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 3.0 shot blocks and 2.5 assists in 37.5 minutes per game in the Pelicans' first four assignments, but the team could not cough up even one win in any of them. All the losing is said to be disheartening 2012's first overall pick.
"Definitely frustrating," said Davis after the Milwaukee game. "We can't get a win. It's frustrating."
Davis' 148 total points have become the NBA record for most points scored in the first four games of a season "by a player whose team lost all of those games", as per ESPN.
His coach, Alvin Gentry, shares his frustrations and has vowed to "find a solution" to the Pelicans' current woes.
"I'm frustrated, but I've got to find a solution," Gentry said. "I can't be frustrated to the point of where I throw up my hands and not anything's going on. It's my job. That's why they hired me here. I've got to find a solution to our problems."
"I've got to find a solution to why we're turning the ball over. I've got to find a solution as to why we can't go into the game with a defensive plan and stick to it. It's very frustrating, yeah. But there have got to be solutions," the coach added.
Sportsrageous reported that the Pelicans may eventually trade Davis to the Spurs for Aldridge, who himself is the subject of "unhappiness" rumors in San Antonio.
There are speculations that Aldridge is not happy about playing second fiddle to Kawhi Leonard, who is being groomed by the Spurs as their next franchise player now that Tim Duncan has retired.
After the Spurs signed the five-time NBA All-Star last year, it was presumed that he will be the focal point of Gregg Popovich's offense. However, with the emergence of Leonard, Aldridge is back to being the second option just like who he was in Portland with Damien Lillard.
