Akshay Kumar has slammed the rumors that his upcoming movie "Airlift" is a copy of Ben Affleck's hit film "Argo."

The 48-year-old Indian star was speaking at a press conference in Delhi when he blasted the baseless rumours that he has copied the concept of his new movie from a hit Hollywood flick.

"It's an insult if you compare Airlift with Argo because they saved only six people and we saved 1,70,000 people," quipped the "Singh Is Bliing" star on being quizzed how he feels when his movie is often compared to Affleck's Oscar-winning 2012 film, Indian Express reported.

Sharing a snippet or two from the movie, Kumar revealed that "Airlift" is based on  a real life incident when 1,70,000 Indians were evacuated from Kuwait when Saddam Hussein had attacked the country in 1990. The actor also revealed that the Herculean task was completed successfully by brave Air India pilots who took reportedly 488 planes in the country to airlift their citizens.

The actor further claimed that the upcoming movie is the story of the "biggest ever human evacuation" in the history of mankind. The actor admittedly was impressed by the heroic story and thus agreed to sign the patriotic venture.

Director Raja Krishna Menon has also opposed the comparison of his upcoming movie with "Argo" by saying that other than the common theme of evacuation, there is no other similarity between his film and the 2012 Hollywood movie.

The movie also stars American tele-series "Homeland" actress Nimrat Kaur, who will be playing the role of Kumar's character's wife who in turn is playing the role of a powerful Indian businessman, Ranjit Katyal, who had famously helped the Indian government to evacuate the citizens in 1990.

Speaking on the issue, Kaur said that "Argo" showed a very small scale operation which was very specific. "Airlift" is set to release on Jan. 22.

Meanwhile, Kaur, who was last seen as  an ISI agent on the fourth season of "Homeland," will soon be seen again in another international project. The actress also clarified that her stunt with the hit Showtime TV series is over and she will not appear in its upcoming seasons, DNA India reported.
