Preview

Dallas has snapped a five-game losing spell to start the new season with an 86-75 overtime win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday night at the America Airlines Center, as per Yahoo Sports.

New acquisition Harrison Barnes scored a career-high 34 points to lead head coach Rick Carlisle's squad, shooting 13-for-26 from the field. He also had eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Starting point guard JJ Barea had 21 points, six boards, and five assists to support Barnes as the Mavericks had poor showings from their other starters Wesley Matthews, Andrew Bogut, and Justin Anderson.

The Mavs played without two of their regular starters as Dirk Nowitzki is out with soreness on his right Achilles while Deron Williams is sidelined by a left calf strain.

"I think the biggest thing that Coach has told me is just look for my shot and be aggressive," said Barnes after the game. "My teammates have a lot of confidence in me and when I was able to get into a good rhythm, the basket got bigger and bigger."

Dallas outscored Milwaukee, 12-1, in overtime to post their first win of the season. The Mavs have lost eight of their last 12 road games.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are coming off a 119-108 victory over the Phoenix Suns also at the Staples Center last Sunday, SB Nation reported.

It was the third consecutive win for head coach Luke Walton's boys as the team unleashed another balanced offensive attack to overcome their opponents.

The Lakers had four starters who scored in double figures, namely Nick Young, Julius Randle, Timofey Mozgov, and D'Angelo Russell with 22, 18, 14, and 11 points respectively. Off the bench, two players also produced double-digits in scoring with Jordan Clarkson and Lou Williams firing 18 and 14 points.

Los Angeles has won four straight home games since last season and is 3-0 so far this year.

Prediction

A fourth straight win for the young Lakers as the team is starting to believe in themselves. Dallas and their older players are expected to have a hard time keeping up with the youngsters from Hollywood even if Nowitzki and Williams will be available.
