The 47th Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter officially opened on Jan. 18, Monday, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) with some of the renowned celebrities like Taylor Swift, who is better known for her hit song "Blank Space," getting featured.
The four-day event was organized by the HKTDC and will feature more than 1,500 exhibitors from 22 countries and backgrounds who will be showcasing the latest collections from international brands, fashion designs, fabrics and accessories.
During the fair, around 30 fashion shows, seminars, parades, forums and networking reception are organized to present the latest market intelligence and fashion collections.
With the 2016 theme being "Fashion of Music," the HKTDC has organized and created a fashion avenue for the fair which in line with the theme blends different genres in a manner that complements various styles of fashion and accessories.
This year, companies from Romania, New Zealand, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Myanmar and Vietnam joined the event for the very first time. Also, some fashion lines from renowned personalities like Swift were not left out. Although the singer herself did not make it to the event, her newly launched clothing line intended to go to the Chinese market, staged a runway amid the booths of other garment manufacturers.
Swift's brand got housed in booth 1D-E08 under the Hong Kong Brand Management. Kate Liegey, who is the person responsible for tailoring Swift's clothing line, is featuring the latest Taylor Swift collection altogether with the artist's single "Wildest Dream" from the latest album, WWD reported.
Also, FORTUNA Tokyo from Japan will be showcasing their fashion products with leading actors Reina Bisa and Kanta Sato from the upcoming movie "Mischievous Kiss" appearing as guest models for the show.
According to Benzinga, Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter features 11 pavilions which include India, Thailand, Indonesia, Macau, Chinese mainland and Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association. The multiple zones are specifically set up to aid buyers to find products that are sought-after, their suppliers, and four new zones this year.
Apart from including multiple zones, HKTDC has invited 90 buyer missions that comprise of more than 5000 buyers from over 43 countries to source at the fair. Some of these buyers include representatives of renowned fashion brands such as Dssr Co from Japan, H&M from Sweden and Showpo from Australia.
