Last year, mobile phone maker Sony launched a new crowd-sourcing initiative which is a unique “concept” software update for the Xperia Z3. Sony’s "Concept for Android" is a concept operating system with a fresh take on user experience based on Android 5.1, Lollipop. The Android format from Sony has some significant differences compared to its current commercial releases, with a stripped back, vanilla Android look and feel, with native Sony features and apps Sony found most popular among its loyal users.
In line with Sony's "Concept" roll out, it is now including Xperia X, the latest addition to its project. Sony is inviting Sony Xperia users to try out the "Concept" ROM on their device, Sony Mobile reported on its official website. The good thing about this is the fact that the concept ROM is based on Android 7.0 Nougat and features the stock Android experience without Sony’s skin. Thus, users can have a Nexus-like experience of the latest software on Sony hardware. Moreover, this user-based feedback generating innovation gives Sony the opportunity to explore and test new ways for people to communicate and get things done.
The latest Concept for Android for Xperia X includes a sneak-peek at some of the latest features that will be part of future Xperia products; and Android 7.0, Nougat, which boasts new native features such as multi-window support and improved notifications. The OS also will also give access to Sony’s inTouch community, providing direct access to Sony’s software engineers and an opportunity to influence the development and upcoming releases.
According to Sony, this latest initiative shall be open to all to Xperia X users in Europe. Interested users must only download the “Concept Installer” app from Google Play and follow the simple steps to guide you through the setup process.
