Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla admitted that she was hesitant to join "It's Showtime" when ABS-CBN first offered her the project. The host also talked about how she and husband Robin Padilla coped from their two miscarriages.
In an interview with Push, Mariel explained that she was worried coming in the noontime show as an outsider. She held that since the hosts, Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Vice Ganda, Karylle, Billy Crawford, among others, have already cultivated a close friendship, she was nervous that she would not fit in.
"But they were all so welcoming and they were all so nice and warm so I didn't have any problem at all," she said.
Before Mariel transferred to TV5 in 2011, she hosted several noontime shows in ABS-CBN, such as "Wowowee," "Pilipinas Win na Win" and "Happy Yipee Yehey."
Being a part of "It's Showtime," Mariel shared that the Kapamilya station gave her her second wind, adding that she never thought she would be given an opportunity to host a noontime show again.
Mariel shared that several memories came flashing back when she went to the "It's Showtime" studio. She said that she considers Studio 3 very special, since this is where she met her husband Robin. She added that although the set looks different, she can still clearly remember everything that happened that day.
Robin also signed a two-year exclusive contract with ABS-CBN. He will reportedly be working on a new "father and child" themed series.
In December, Mariel opened up about her two miscarriages. In an interview with "Tonight with Boy Abunda," she thanked Robin for being with her through it all. She shared that while she was not blessed in having children, she was extremely lucky to have a husband like Robin.
When she found out that she suffered another miscarriage, the "Pinoy Big Brother" host admitted that she was in a very dark place in her life. She added that she would have lost her mind if not for Robin's encouraging words.
"Robin took me out of the country and he reassured me that the world would be okay even if it was just the two of us. He was able to make something bad positive," she shared.
