The latest "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" release marks the 13th installment of the popular first person shooter franchise. The video game is set in a far future where a war for the Solar System is taking place. Players take control of the newly minted Captain Nick Reyes of the Special Combat Air Recon (SCAR), who leads a team in various missions. The campaign and trademark zombie mode of the game has gotten positive critical responses.
In a recent interview with actress Jamie Gray Halder, she reveals how they had to make each segment of the game accurate in terms of the military aspect. She plays Lt. Nora Salter in the game but she is also known for starring in the series "True Blood" and "Graceland". According to Halder, they had a lot of advisors and former military men give them instructions for each scenario. Each nuance and body movement usually meant life or death in the field. The advisors also highlighted the importance of being in a group and forming a bond with each other regardless of sexual orientation or race.
They also did training, mainly learning tactics such as clearing rooms. Halder was also taught how to use the weapons including how to take them apart and put them back together. Body language is also very important when handling weapons as it communicates different things depending on how they project it. Since the game is set in space, the actors had to talk to NASA personnel to give them an idea on how warfare would be in space.
Halder spent 15 months in shooting for the video game as reported by Yahoo. She also mentions that it is very important to get the military aspect right as there are a lot of military men that play the game. It is also important to remember that ultimately, "Call of Duty" is a piece of entertainment and people should not take it too seriously.
"Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" was released last November 4 and is available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on Microsoft Windows.
