"The Vampire Diaries" is about to say goodbye to their millions of followers. The official series finale date of the Ian Somerhalder series has now been announced.
According to TV Line, the CW network has scheduled "The Vampire Diaries" to conclude its eight and final season on Friday, March 17 at 8PM. The ultimate season, which is only composed of 16 episodes, is currently exploring a high-stakes storyline for brothers Damon and Stefan. Its most recent outing just revealed that the older Stefan has killed-off Tyler.
Moving forward, TV Guide reported that the aftermath of Damon's latest kill will have major repercussions. Stefan and Caroline, for their part, will rethink all of Damon's murders in the past and ask themselves if they are still willing to forgive him for the nth time. On the sneak peek shared by the site, a defeated Stefan talks to Caroline about his brother's behavior.
"I'm at a loss with Damon. I don't know what to do with him anymore," Stefan said.
"Maybe the best thing to do is to mourn Tyler with your friends," Caroline offered. "We all owe him that."
Next week, fans will see Damon hitting another low. As revealed in the official plot synopsis, the beloved character will continue his path to self-destruction that may prove to be beyond the point of no return. However, Stefan will refuse to let his brother squander away his life. To this end, he will be forced to make a gut-wrenching decision that threatens to change their lives forever.
"The Vampire Diaries" also stars Candice King, Kat Graham, Zach Roerig and Michael Malarkey. Season 8 airs every Friday at 8PM on the CW.
