New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony is in a hard situation to be trapped in the dispute between his team president Phil Jackson and his good friend LeBron James. Anthony said he understand why James was upset.
In a Tuesday’s interview as quoted by ESPN, Anthony explained his understanding. He said said that he can understand that James was upset for having his business associate being called posse.
I would never want to hear that word about me and my, I don't want to say crew, but people that I consider family or people that I come up,” Anthony said. “I don't think you would have to be a rocket scientist or an educated person to understand what that means to us."
However Anthony had not read Jackson’s remark about James, and he was only briefed about the feud. He also said that he thought that Jackson didn’t mean to use the word ‘posse’ in a racial connotation, but he decline to speak on behalf of Jackson.
Anthony also said as reported by New York Daily News that nobody will ever know what Jackson meant when he said things.
The feud started during Jackson’s interview with ESPN. The interviewer Jackie MacMullan asked the acclaimed coach about the difference between superstar such as Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Michael Jordan and James.
Jackson quoted the answer from Pat Riley in an event when James asked coach Eric Spoelstra to stay overnight during his tenure in Miami Heat, and the word ‘posse’ came to explain James business associates. James founded LRMR Management Company in 2012 with his childhood friends Maverick Carter, Randy Mims and his agent Rich Paul.
Anthony who has been with the Knicks since 2011 is a god friend of James. In a feud between Jackson and James, he is in a very uncomfortable position. Moreover, he hasn’t been able to contribute much to the Knicks.
