"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will introduce a new character named Alex, and she will be direct ties with Michael Malarkey's Enzo.
According to TV Line, the role of Alex was given to "American Horror Story" alum Mouzam Makkar.
The publication described Alex as a beautiful and charming head of a secret organization that could either benefit or risk Enzo's life.
While speaking with TV Line, executive producer Caroline Dries said, "She has ties to Enzo's backstory. As he's trying to find his place in this world, she comes in and says, 'Let me help you out with that.' Is she good? Is she bad? What's her bigger agenda? We'll pull back her layers as the season goes on."
Meanwhile, according to Buddy TV, there will be one episode from "The Vampire Diaries" that will be focused solely on Enzo. This means that fans will learn more about the character and his dark past.
The episode will most likely be 714 because this is where Makkar's character will be introduced first.
In other news, "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will also reveal more details about Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), Stefan (Paul Wesley), Caroline (Candice Accola-King), Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Alaric (Matt Davis).
When the show returns at the end of January, fans will see Caroline and Alaric holding a baby shower for their twins.
Caroline's ex-boyfriend Tyler (Michael Trevino) will also return to Mystic Falls to attend the gathering.
Around the same time, Caroline will discover Alaric's plans with their twins, and she will not be happy about them.
Additionally, Damon will finally get out of the mysterious Phoenix stone, but before this happens he will first go through hell.
Upon leaving the stone, Damon will have difficulty remembering that he's been dead for three months.
Speaking of three months, "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will feature a three-month time-jump.
