Fans cannot help but commend Eric Nam for the reasons behind his refusal to portray Gandhi and an openly gay celebrity during his appearance on "Saturday Night Live Korea."

Just this year, Eric Nam made an appearance in a segment of "Saturday Night Live Korea" called "3 Minute Boyfriend," where celebrities dress up as popular personalities. During his guesting, the singer-songwriter played as Krillin of "Dragon Ball Z."

However, a netizen revealed the story behind Eric Nam's portrayal of the character, stating that he was supposed to dress up as Gandhi. However, Eric Nam said doing so is like mocking the Indian leader, adding that he would never do that, Allkpop reported.

After Eric Nam's refusal, the show reportedly suggested for him to portray Hong Suk Chun, who is an openly gay. "Eric Nam said no to this as well since the character was supposed to be a silly, stereotypical comedic one," the netizen wrote.

The post continued, "He said that he can do anything and ruin his own image but he cannot make fun of gay people or Gandhi, so they held a meeting and ultimately decided to do Krillin instead."

On the other hand, Eric Nam is reportedly planning to stage a performance in the upcoming 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards according to Soompi. The singer-songwriter reportedly will collaborate with Timbaland for the performance.

"We are currently in discussion to have Timbaland and Eric Nam perform a collaboration stage at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards," Mnet announced.
