NBA News: More bad news for Memphis Grizzlies as Mike Conley suffers fractured vertebrae

Memphis Grizzlies has to lose another player as point guard Mike Conley has to be sidelined for around 6-8 weeks or more because of fractured in his verterbrae. Previously their forward Chandler Parsons and three other players have already out due to injury and other issue.

Conley suffer a a transverse process fracture in the vertebrae and according to ESPN, he is expected to miss the game for six weeks and to be re-evaluated in four weeks.

Conley sustained the injury during the third quarter in the 85-104 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Nov. 28. In the beginning of this season, Conley led the team in points and assist, averaging 19.2 points and 5.7 assists per game.

According to official statement  from the team, Conley was kneed in the back by Charlotte player while taking a charge. His teammate, veteran player Vince Carter also suffered a right hip flexor strain and was questionable to play against Toronto Raptors on Wednesday Nov. 3 at Air Canada Center.

“Conley was diagnosed today with transverse fractures in the vertebrae located in his lower back following last night’s game against the Charlotte Hornets,” read the official statement. “The injury occurred with 8:25 to go in the third quarter.”

With his injury, Grizzlies face more difficult time time as they have already missed four players. Three are caused by injury, Parsons, James Ennis and Brandan Wright. While one player Zach Randolph took personal leave.

Parsons was out for two weeks since last week due to bruise left knee, Ennis experienced a calf problem. Wright is still in a recovery process after arthroscopic debridement surgery on his left ankle on Nov. 15 and he will miss two months.

Although plagued by player’s injury, Memphis Grizzlies is able to book 11-7 records early this season. But they will have to struggle hard for the next games. Watch the report on Conley’s injury below:
