The Consumer Safety Commission announced today a safety recall on Samsung's new Galaxy Note 7 smartphone after users reported that some of the devices caught fire when charging.

Samsung will try to end their year in a positive note by finally revealing the reason why the Galaxy Note 7 is literally on fire after its very popular initial release. There are theories and speculations why the popular mobile device is now considered a fire hazard, the Korean electronics company is keeping their investigation under wraps.

From Hero to Zero

According to GSM Arena, the Galaxy Note 7 is one of the most popular mobile devices of Samsung. Backed by increasingly impressive specs put together for the Galaxy Note line, the mobile device is like hotcake as it sells 4.3 million on its release.

But as soon as the Galaxy Note 7 ships out to millions of users worldwide, reports of the device getting on fire soon comes in. Samsung initially thought the problem was in the battery but even with the product recall and a switch of battery supplier, the problem still exists. Because of the problem, Samsung effectively ended production of Galaxy Note 7 and may have ended the Galaxy Note series altogether.

More than Just the Battery

Korea Herald reports that the culprit to the disastrous Galaxy Note 7 is more than just the faulty battery. There are additional factors that contribute to the eventual demise of the premium mobile phone. These small factors, along with faulty battery will be soon revealed by Samsung as they conduct internal investigation on the problem.

But Samsung's plan in revealing why the Galaxy Note 7 gets on fire is not just because they want to clear the issue. Although the Galaxy Note 7 is a disaster, the company is still banking on their other premium model - the Galaxy S series. Next year, Samsung will introduce the Galaxy S8 where they could incorporate the safety measures they learned during their investigation of the Galaxy Note 7.
