"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 will see one couple breaking up.
According to the show's spoiler site, Kunal Nayyar's Raj will split from her long-time girlfriend Emily (Laura Spencer) in episode 15.
In "The Valentino Submergence," Raj will finally act on his realization that he can never be with Emily because they cannot get married.
During an interview with TV Line, executive producer Steve Molaro said that Raj and Emily will decide to stay in a relationship. However, it would take long before the former realizes that he should be split from the latter.
"I think he knows in his heart that it might not be the right person for him, but, for a sensitive and insecure guy like him, the thought of choosing to break up with someone and then be alone is difficult. That's something he will be wrestling with further in season 9," he said.
Meanwhile, "The Valentino Submergence" will also see Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) hosting another episode of the hilarious YouTube/podcast of "Sheldon Cooper Presents: Fun With Flags."
As of late, it is unclear which flag the couple will focus on, but this is the first time after a long time that Sheldon and Amy will be united on "Fun With Flags."
During one of his most recent episodes, Sheldon threw shade at Amy for breaking up with him at that time.
Additionally, "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 episode 15 will also see Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) going out on a teen date. Details of their night out have not yet been released as well.
Finally, "The Valentino Submergence" will also shed some light on Howard (Simon Helberg) and Bernadette's (Melissa Rauch) marriage. Fans will find out which of the two has a stronger personality when it comes to dealing with a dead rabbit.
In other news, Molaro previously said that the remaining episodes of "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 will focus less on Amy and Sheldon. After all, the exec added that the other characters on the show also need more storylines.
"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 will return to CBS with episode 14 on Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. ET.
