"Sense8" will air a two-hour Christmas Special on Dec. 23rd at 12:01am on Netflix. The holiday offering of the scifi series will be available for streaming on the given release date worldwide.
In a report from Collider, it was announced that the streaming network has also set the official release date of "Sense8" Season 2, which will be on Friday, May 5 at 12:01am.
Following the events that unfolded in Sense8's first season finale, Season 2 of the show will find "Capheus (Toby Onwumere), Kala (Tina Desai), Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre), Nomi (Jamie Clayton), Riley (Tuppence Middleton) , Sun (Donna Bae), Will (Brian J. Wright) and Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) come together both physically and mentally, plunged into the middle of each other's tragedies and triumphs. On the run from Whispers (Terrence Mann), and forced to question their very identity, it's a matter of survival as the Sensates must find a way to live with, understand and protect one another against all odds."
As to what happens in the two-hour Christmas Special, fans of "Sense8" should expect to see "these eight singular hearts and minds weave in and out of each other's lives finding deeper connections, learning darker, more desperate secrets about one another and struggling to identify with more than just oneself."
The news was also announced on the show's official Facebook page, a development that made fans extremely excited.
"THE WAIT IS GOING TO BE REAL, BUT SO EXCITED FOR FINALLY A CONFIRMATION OF THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL," one fan commented.
"Sense8" hails from creators Lana and Andy Wachowski (The Matrix) and J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5). The ambitious scifi series follows the story of eight people from around the world, whose lives are suddenly and inexplicably connected after experiencing a violent vision. The core characters are able to see, feel, hear and communicate to each other as if they are in the same place. Due to this ability, they must fight for their own survival as an organization out to do them harm tracks them down.
"Sense8" Season 2 will run for a total of 10 episodes. No word yet if the streaming giant will allow subscribers to download the entire new season for offline binge watching.
