Seems like Pokemon Go has found a new 'business partner' in Starbucks. The phenomenal game will be cross-promoted with Starbucks and has been confirmed.
Rumors about Pokemon Go being cross-promoted with Starbucks have been going on for weeks and now, it has been confirmed by Starbucks employees. The new joint venture will make every Starbucks in America a PokeStop or gym. Based on the leaked documents, the coffee restaurant company has seen an increase in sales in Pokestop stores and wants to mirror to that to increase their foot traffic as well. Because of some technical reasons on Niantic's end, many of the Starbucks chains will become PokeStops or gyms, according to Forbes.
The occasion will make a new Starbucks' drink called "Pokémon GO Frappuccino" mixed with and blackberry and raspberry. Baristas already had been given directives on how to prepare it beforehand at the much-awaited event which is about to launch this December 8.
The Silphroad reported that on the same date, Starbucks will start a promotion in cooperation with Niantic Inc. along with The Pokemon Company International to transform the majority of Starbucks restaurant to become a PokeStop or gym in the US. However, it's not yet clear if the conversion is just temporary or for good. Nevertheless, it will pay off to those areas with the new feature - the Nearby tracker.
While "Pokémon GO Frappuccino" is on the "while supplies last" category, it is not certain if the agreement means that Starbucks has secured the right to make all their coffee chains become permanent PokeStops or gyms or if they will have to pay to keep on playing forward.
Another thing that Pokémon players are excited about is the release of Pokémon Gen 2 on December 8, Thursday. What makes it more convincing is the tagline from the leaked document that stated, "The world of Pokémon GO is about to expand with new Pokémon and a new Starbucks beverage." This line makes it more obvious 100 Pokémon Gen 2 could be unleashed into the game.
Whatever it was, it remains to be seen. Pokémon fans can only wait until Thursday to see what this event is really all about and get a taste of the new "Pokémon GO Frappuccino".
