Lab Zero, best known for developing the video game "Skullgirls", recently partnered with TRIGGER to create the opening animation for their upcoming role playing game (RPG) entitled "Indivisible". The storyboard for the opening will be handled by Titmouse whose best known for projects such as "Venture Bros." and "Superjail!" The director of the animation will be Yoh Yoshinari who worked on "Little Witch Academia". "Indivisible" was funded through crowdfunding platform Indiegogo and released a free prototype to promote the game as well as bring in monetary support. The prototype is available for download through Steam, PlayStation 4, Windows, Linux, and Mac.
The main protagonist for "Indivisible" is the girl Ajna who goes on a quest to find out the mystery of her powers. On her quest she is joined by unique heroes and the prototype shows a mix of platforming, action segments, and RPG elements. The soundtrack is made by composer Hiroki Kikuta of "Secret of Mana" fame and the story is said to be inspired by Southeast Asian mythology. The game has been in development for a year now and hit the $1.5 million target on Indiegogo last December 1.
More than 25,000 backers have supported the game and Lab Zero has partnered with publisher 505 Games for the eventual official release. According to Lab Zero, the game will also feature characters from other popular indie games such as "Shovel Knight", "Super Time Force", "Transistor", and "Hyper Light Drifter". The opening animation development for the game started because Lab Zero was successful in hitting a stretch goal of $1.9 million. Other stretch goals that have yet to be achieved include a full voice over for all major characters at $2.05 million, while a $2.3 million funding will unlock multiple endings plus a hardcore bonus dungeon.
"Indivisible" has an estimated January 2018 release with backers also receiving free items depending on their donations.
