"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" Oscar winner Holly Hunter has been tapped to star in Alan Ball's new untitled HBO family drama series. She is headed for the premium cable network's tragicomic family drama.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hunter will star as Audrey Black, matriarch of the Black-Bishop family, in the untitled Alan Ball drama. She and her husband Greg, who is a philosophy professor, are socially conscious idealists who decided to build a family by adopting three children from Somalia, Vietnam, and Colombia before having their own biological child in their forties.
In the plot of the untitled Alan Ball drama, Audrey was once a therapist in private practice. She now reluctantly uses her skills as a psychologist in the corporate world, balancing her more progressive personal philosophy with the need to make money.
In the untitled Alan Ball drama, Audrey is a smart, caring woman who believes she knows what is best for everyone and has no problem telling them. However, she finds herself somewhat adrift with her husband now fighting depression and her children mostly grown. Then, one of the children begins to see things others cannot, TV Line reported.
The untitled Alan Ball drama was created and will be executive produced by Ball alongside his Your Face Goes Here banner topper Peter Macdissi. It marks the fifth collaboration for Ball with HBO and its sibling cabler Cinemax, following "Six Feet Under" (2001-2005), "True Blood" (2008-2014), and "Banshee" (2013-2015). He will next executive produce Oprah Winfrey's TV movie "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks," due out next year from HBO Films.
The untitled Alan Ball drama also marks Hunter's first starring TV role since "Saving Grace" ended in 2010. She also appeared as GJ in "Top of the Lake." She is represented by ICM Partners, Management 360, and Ziffren Brittenham.
Hunter will next be seen next year in Judd Apatow feature "The Big Stick" and will reprise her voice role in "The Incredibles 2" sequel, bows in 2018. Her recent credits include in "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" as well as the indie film "Strange Weather."
