Preview
Portland is on a downward spiral at the moment, losing their last three games after previously having a three-game winning run. The team is still in the eighth spot of the Western Conference table, though, as ninth-place squad Los Angeles Lakers have failed to capitalize on the Blazers' losing skid.
In their most recent game last Saturday on the road at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse, the Blazers succumbed to a 118-111 defeat to the Indiana Pacers, as per Oregon Live.
Portland started the game strongly with a 44-point first quarter output. However, they were held to only 13 points by the Pacers in the final period to settle for the loss.
CJ McCollum led head coach Terry Stotts' team with 34 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three blocks while Damian Lillard had 33 points, three boards, and nine assists. They are the only double-digit scorers for the team during the game.
Starting power forward Ed Davis had 10 rebounds, six points, two assists, two steals, and a block while starting center Mason Plumlee chipped in eight points and nine boards.
Meanwhile, the Clippers routed the New Orleans Pelicans, 133-105, also on Saturday night at the Staples Center to snap a two-game losing slide, the Los Angeles Daily News reported.
Chris Paul had an incredible performance with 20 points and 20 assists along with five rebounds and three steals. DeAndre Jordan had 19 points and nine boards while JJ Redick fired 16 points.
Luc Mbah a Moute slid to the power forward spot to fill-in for the injured Blake Griffin while Austin Rivers replaced Griffin in the starting lineup. Rivers had 18 points and four assists.
Jamal Crawford, Marreese Speights, and Wesley Johnson netted 22, 17, and 10 points respectively off the bench.
Griffin will most likely be unavailable again in this game versus the Blazers as he will reportedly be a game-time decision.
Prediction
Portland is 5-9 in the road this season while Los Angeles is 8-4 at home. The Clippers are not at their full strength with Griffin, but Paul is more than capable of leading the team's charge on his own. A close win for the Clips is predicted.
