Kim Jong Min is the center in the three previous episodes of Korea's favorite variety show, "2 Days and 1 Night." The production team decided to give the singer/variety show host a special celebration to commemorate his ninth year, as a mainstay cast member of 2D1N.
Kim is the only cast member who managed to stay despite changes in the cast line-up in the show's three seasons. Even when he enlisted in the army, he returned to the show after two years of service. Needless to say, Kim is the only original "2 Nights and 1 Day" member who remains until now.
The Dec. 11 broadcast of "2 Days and 1 Night"was the third and part of the Kim Jong Min special. It was a heartwarming episode since video messages from previous cast members were played during the event for Kim.
Kim Joo Hyuk, who was one of the original members in "2 Days 1 Night" Season 3, was the first to appear on the screen. He left the show early this year to focus more on dramas since he is an actor.
He told Kim that now that he has left the show, he never missed an episode because he miss everyone so much. The actor also said that Kim is definitely the root of the show and because it is a healthy root, it bears good fruit.
Season 1 co-member, Eun Ji Won, also gave his special message to Kim. "We started out together but I had no idea you would keep going for so long," Soompi quoted Eun as saying. He added that he wish Kim will protect the legacy of "2 Days and 1 Night."
Kim burst to tears when Na Young Suk, the director and producer of "2 Days and 1 Night" Season 1, appeared on screen and told him that he is very proud of him. Na said that he did not think Kim will last this long on the show, but he did, and for that he thinks Kim is amazing.
Jung Joon Young, the youngest member of "2 Days and 1 Night" Season 3 is currently on hiatus and he also sent a video message from Paris. "I feel regretful that I can't be with you right now but I would like to come back as quickly as possible and continue to make good memories with you all," he told Kim.
According to Allkpop, Jung personally asked the staff of "2 Days and 1 Night" for a break. He told them that it will be hard for him to make people laugh since he was involved in a scandal. The producers respected his decision and he temporarily left the show.
Popular actor Park Bo Gum appeared on the show not long ago. He became close to Kim during the shoot so he also sent a video message. Park told Kim that he would be happy to return as guest on the show, the he wished Kim goodluck.
Kim was deeply moved by the surprise event and hugged his friends who went up the stage. He thanked everyone and made his promise to continue making people happy through the show.
