Masashi Kishimoto's story of Naruto's journey to be the next Hokage in his village has seen success for more than a decade as an anime, manga and original animation video or OAV. With the anime series about to end, Kishimoto has involved in something totally different: live action adaptation.
Lionsgate Collaboration Confirmed!
Masashi Kishimoto's "Naruto Shippuden" is set to end soon as its original manga counterpart has released its final chapter two years ago. Although Naruto's son Boruto is getting his own manga, the original author is only involved in the story's direction and has delegated the script and original artwork. But Kishimoto remains busy as Anime News Network reports that he is currently involved in the live action adaptation of one of the most popular anime series of all time.
The news about live action adaptation of anime is not new but this is not just any adaptation that will come from Japan. Lionsgate will be the production studio for the upcoming film which means everyone's favorite ninja from Konoha will have a Hollywood treatment.
Shadow of Doubt
Live action adaptation of popular anime series is nothing new but those who have been following the trend will surely have some second thoughts. Everyone still remembers "Dragon Ball Evolution" which sits at 14% in Rotten Tomatoes. It is critically panned because it largely deviates from the source material and the casting has been largely questioned.
The factor that would make a big difference about the upcoming adaptation is Kishimoto's presence. In "Dragon Ball Evolution," the creator was not part of the movie and he panned the adaptation.
The estimated release date and the cast of characters of the upcoming live action adaptation are still unknown. Fans will surely monitor about the news especially about the cast of characters tapped to portray one of the biggest anime and manga series today.
