When "Grey's Anatomy" returns for the second half of season 13, Dr. Arizona will find herself headed to prison.
TV Guide reported that there's a special case waiting for Arizona when the medical drama returns after the hiatus. The Jan 19th episode will pick up only moments after the winter finale where Arizona will be given a very unusual case, one where she will enlists the help of Dr. Bailey and Jo.
"Arizona's been called in on a case at a maximum security prison for an inmate who can't go to a regular hospital because she's that dangerous," star Jessica Capshaw previewed.
"After the longest day of all of their lives, they all go to a maximum security prison, where they are meant to do something that seems like a pretty simple procedure. It's truly kind of creepy at the same time as it's super provocative and exciting."
Doctors dealing with prison inmates is not an uncommon storyline on "Grey's Anatomy." Fans will remember that in Season 5, the series also introduced William Dunn, a convicted murderer admitted to Seattle Grace Hospital one week before his execution after he was stabbed in the spine. The character was portrayed by Eric Stoltz, who currently stars on CBS' Madam Secretary as Will Adams.
In usual "Grey's Anatomy" fashion, midseason premieres are usually big comeback episodes. That said, it's likely that this new storyline for Arizona, Bailey and Jo have more layers to it that viewers have yet to find out. Whether or not one of the doctors will find themselves in danger is also one big mystery fans should better keep an eye out.
"Grey's Anatomy" also stars Ellen Pompeo, Kevin McKidd, Caterina Scorsone, James Pickens Jr., Alex Chambers, Martin Henderson, Chandra Wilson, Jesse Williams, Sarah Drew, Camilla Luddington, Jerrika Hinton, Kelly McCreary, Jason George and Giacomo Gianniotti.
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 resumes on Thursday, Jan. 19th at 8PM on ABC.
