WWE superstar John Cena, "How to Be Single" actress Leslie Mann, and "The Mindy Project" comedian Ike Barinholtz are all set to star in the comedy "The Pact." The upcoming film is Kay Cannon's directorial debut.
According to Variety, "The Pact" follows three parents who go out and try to stop their daughters before it is too late. They discover that their daughters have made a pact to lose their virginities on prom night. It is expected that Cena, Mann, and Barinholtz will play as parents.
The script of "The Pact" is written by Eben Russell, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, as well as brothers Brian and Jim Kehoe for Point Grey, Good Universe, Hurwitz & Schlossberg Productions, and DMG Entertainment.
"The Pact" will be produced by Point Grey's Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver alongside Hurwitz and Schlossberg, and DMG's Chris Fenton. It will also be executive produced by Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake of Good Universe with Chris Cowles of DMG. Josh Fagen will oversee for Point Grey.
Cena is represented by ICM and is best known for his action movies. He has recently gotten into the comedy scene with films such as "Trainwreck" with Amy Schumer and "Sisters" alongside Amy Poehler and Tina Frey.
Cena will next appear in "The Wall," currently in post-production, and is expected to voice in the "Surf's Up 2: WaveMania" video. He also made a cameo appearance in the family comedy "Daddy's Home" opposite Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell.
Cena is just recently reported to return to WWE's SmackDown Live next week as he seems poised to take his victory lap in WWE this WrestleMania season, Forbes reported. He will play a part-time WrestleMania attraction similar to his competitor Brock Lesnar.
Mann is represented by CAA and Steve Warren at Hansen Jacobson. She most recently starred in New Line's romantic comedy "How to Be Single," with Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson, and Sony Classic's comedy "The Comedian" alongside Robert De Niro and Danny DeVito. The latter film should be a contender at the upcoming Golden Globes.
Barinholtz is represented by UTA, Principato Young Entertainment, and Jared Levin at Morris Yorn. He had a busy 2016 both in front of and behind the camera. He wrote the script for the summer hit "Central Intelligence" and appeared in "Suicide Squad" and "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising."
