Forest Whitaker is not yet done in the "Star Wars" universe. The actor is set to reprise his role as Saw Guerrera on Disney XD's "Star Wars Rebels."
According to Deadline, Whitaker will voice Guerrera in a two-part episode of "Star Wars Rebels" titled "Ghosts of Geonosis," set to premiere on Saturday, Jan. 7th.
"It's an incredible honor to have Forest Whitaker play Saw in 'Rebels,'" executive producer Dave Filoni said in a statement.
"Forest did a great job at capturing Saw in a way that is a bit mad, a bit crazed, a bit afraid, but also a bit sympathetic. He sees something coming, but no one will take action before it's too late."
Saw Guerrera made his "Star Wars" debut in the TV series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" from 2008-2015. The character was first voiced by Andrew Kishino, who at that time was a guerilla fighter trained by Jedi Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka Tano.
In addition to "Star Wars Rebels," Whitaker has also been busy working in his new project with Marvel, "Black Panther." In the upcoming superhero film, the actor will play the role of Zuri, an elder statesman in Wakanda. Chadwick Boseman plays the title role.
The latest Star Wars film, "Rogue One" ranked as number one at the box office, grossing over $150 million during its opening weekend. It has crossed the $300 million mark only four days after its release. The film also stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn and Donnie Yen.
Other projects in development from Lucasfilm include "Star Wars: Episode VIII" opening in May 26, 2017; "Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo" opening in May 25, 2018; and also "Star Wars: Episode IX" and "Star Wars Anthology: Boba Fett," which will be released in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
