Before this year concludes, Billboard critics have listed top 10 albums which made the K-Pop industry even more popular in 2016.
On top of Billboard's "10 Best K-Pop Albums 2016" was BTS' second full-length studio album called "Wings" which was released on Oct. 10. The album carries the title track "Blood Sweat & Tears and 14 other songs.
Billboard branded the album as BTS' "accomplishment of its own," adding that "Wings" is a good example for other groups who would like to introduce their members with their chosen styles.
"There's forward-thinking production coupled with lyrics discussing topics important to their listeners like the dark side of adulthood and mental health issues," the description stated.
It went on, "Not only that, but each member is given a solo song to showcase his own vocal color and preferred genre style. "Wings" is a good model for any band trying to move itself forward while concurrently establishing its different members."
Other K-Pop acts who made it on the list were GOT7 for "Flight Log: Fly" sitting at number 10, Mamamoo for "Melting" and Seventeen for "Going Seventeen" at numbers 9 and 8, respectively.
Tiffany also secured a spot for her album "I Just Wanna Dance" at number 7, while BIGBANG was at 6 with "Made." Also, Dean's "130 Mood: TRBL" landed on the 5th spot, Akdong Musician's "Spring" at 4 and EXID's "Street" and DAY6 "Daydream" ranked at numbers 3 and 2.
Aside from topping Billboard's "10 Best K-Pop Albums 2016," the album previously ranked at the 26th spot of "Billboard 200" chart, making it the highest charting K-Pop album on the list.
"Wings" stayed on the chart for more than one week, which was also a first for a K-Pop act. On top of that, its title track "Blood Sweat & Tears" topped the Gaon Digital Chart.
On the other hand, BTS has sold 40,000 tickets for their upcoming "2017 BTS Live Trilogy Episode III - The Wings TOUR in Seoul" which will take place on Feb. 18 and 19, Allkpop cited.
Reports claimed tickets for the two-day concert were immediately sold out after they were made available on Dec. 23, making BTS the first group to sell out the Gocheok Sky Dome for two successive concerts.
Aside from their upcoming concerts in Seoul, BTS will also hold a series of shows in the US, Brazil and Chile.
