Boston Celtics currently have too many guards in their roster. However they need another big man to help Al Horford in the front court. They will need to let go some of the guards to get big men, but the question is who will be the one to let go?
According to Bleacher Report, the abundant of guards in Boston Celtics is the consequences of Danny Ainge’s effort to stockpile players. Meanwhile in the front court, they have only Al Horford with a little help from Amir Johnson and Jonas Jerebko. Therefore they need to let some of the guards that have a great value for other team.
Up to now, the Celtics have Avery Bradley and Isaiah Thomas as the starter along with Marcus Smart and Terry Rozier off-the bench. Other guards available in the roster are James Young and Gerald Green which is often played as small forward.
With that abundance of players, according to Masssachusets Live, Boston Celtics back court is considered as one of the best bargains in the NBA. Therefore in order to strengthen their front court, the Celtics have the option to obtain best possible players.
Bradley is considered as the most wanted guards by many teams. It is because of his strength in the back court position. His defensive skill is superb as he can defense any backcourt position. He is also an elite outside shooter with 41.2 percentage of shooting from behind the arc. Furthermore, he has a good court vision which enable him to become playmaker.
While other teams may want Thomas for his offensive skills. But he will not be suitable in the team which have already a high scoring guards. As for Smart, his young age and defensive skills have also become the strong candidate for trade.
Letting go the star guards they have will be a difficult decision for Boston Celtics. But they need to do it to keep them as the top team in the Eastern Conference.
